Basic Educare Teachers'
CorrespondenceTraining Course
As Chairperson of the East London Pre-School Care Association (founded in 1976), Mrs Lynne Hobbs was approached by
many of Members of the Association and many other members of the public to consider offering a course that would be
affordable and fairly short in content but suitable for the needs of Educare and Pre-School teachers. So many people do not
have the means to attend a University or College due to financial constraints or time to attend a full time course.

Lynne started compiling the course in 1991 and began offering courses on a three month, part time basis. It has proved to be
very popular and extremely successful and she has subsequently presented the course to the Royal Swaziland Sugar
Corporation and to an organisation called "The Loaves and Fishes Network", where Dr Trudy Thomas, former MEC for Health,
Eastern Cape, South Africa, is presently Chairperson and to a large organisation called the Edunet Project. Careful planning
and thought has gone into the contents of the course as due to the time constraints, only the basic requirements have been
included.

To date, Mrs Lynne Hobbs has presented this course to a large number of students and most of these students have
obtained employment due to having the course certificate. Many have been extremely successful by having been promoted
to the management of large Educare and Pre-School Centres. Many have successfully operated their own Educare and
Pre-Schools. Many students have been able to aupair overseas due to completing the course. As Lynne has received so
many enquiries from all over the country regarding the course, she has decided to offer the course via correspondence.

Many students register for this course simply because they believe that it will assist them in raising their own children.

The course, covers all the basic requirements, to ensure that everyone who completes the course, will have all the
necessary knowledge required to successfully work with young children up to Grade 1 and to assist in being a good,
professional Educare and Pre-School teacher.

All students who have successfully completed the course, as per the requirements, will receive a certificate which has been
recognised in many places in South Africa and even abroad.
