About Lynne
Lynne attended and matriculated at Clarendon Girls High School in East London and as a parent, has been actively involved in the school during the past few years.
After nursing training, Lynne decided that she wished to pursue her career in working with young children. A mother of one eldest son, twin sons and twin daughters, Lynne realised that raising the standards of day care facilities was imperative and that only trained and suitably qualified people should be permitted to care for and educate young children.
After attending and completing various training facilities and courses in Early Childhood Development, Lynne opened her first Educare and Pre-School in 1988. During this period, Lynne was elected Chairperson for the East London and Border Pre-school Care Association that was founded in February 1977 and she is still presently acting Chairperson.

The Starting Point
Where It Started
Due to the lack of training facilities, Lynne was approached by the committee of the Association to compile and facilitate a short but detailed Basic Educare Teachers Training Course. Plenty of research and planning went into compiling this course to ensure that all students are efficiently trained to work as an Educare Teacher.
The Basic Educare Teachers Training Course was first offered in 1991 for members of the public who work during the day and can only participate in lectures after hours — and this has proved to be most successful. Lynne has facilitated the course for large organisations including Loaves and Fishes Network and the Royal Swaziland Sugar Corporation, and the course is now available through Long Distance Learning.

Teachers’ Training Course
We have identified an educational gap for ECD training with children for the first most important 6 years of their lives — Birth to 6 years of age. It is concerning that QCTO/ETDP SETA no longer offer accredited training which will not require on-site exams, except for the NQF Level 1 Skills Programme for the Early Childhood Caregiver. Their concentration is on the requirements in obtaining a diploma or degree for Grade R (NQF 4, 5 and 6).
